In this forum, we make a genuine effort to bring the curiosity and rigor of science to issues relevant to the enjoyment of coffee. In the first installment, we have tackled the question of whether fresh roasted coffee should be stored in the freezer. We present the basis of our opinion, as well as a simple “scientific” experiment you can do at home to test the value of this technique for yourself. Subsequent installments of Coffee Talk will address other topics of importance to coffee drinkers including the effects of coffee on health and physical performance, and decaffeination techniques, to name a few.
